About Squigggle
Make a Drawing!
I've been playing the traditional version of this game since I was a teenager. It went like this: sitting in a restaurant, or maybe an airport lounge, waiting. Someone would pull out a piece of paper, or a notebook and a pen, and draw a squiggly line. Then hand the paper and pen over and demand: "make a drawing out of it". It was always fun. Every time.
Nowadays, we have phones, and we can just sit and swipe. So I created Squigggle in the hope of adding a spark of creativity to everyday. It takes the original idea and transforms it into an experience that can be shared with many others, all over the world. It's simple, and I hope, sort of beautiful.
Fun fact: the original version of the game, played with paper and pencil, was invented by pediatrician/child psychologist D.W. Winnicott as a technique to elicit and explore children's thoughts and feelings.
Compare and Contrast
Every week on Monday, a new squiggly line is generated and available for everyone to draw on. You can submit your creation, and once approved, it joins the gallery where the community can view and compare their favorites.
The challenge is straightforward: take the base squiggly line and let your imagination run wild. Whether you create a detailed illustration, a whimsical character, or an abstract masterpiece, every submission is different.
Future Imperfect
A final note: the drawing tool is intentionally primitive. Unlike so much of the internet that biases towards perfection, here the imperfect and the hand-crafted are celebrated.
